Search Engine updated

We just updated the search engine that powers your website. The search engine has been introduced late 2009 and while we are very happy with its performance, it was due for some "cosmetic" changes. More data is now indexed and thumbnails are displayed next to each search result.

Here is what has changed:

• Item references and labels are now indexed by the search engine. It is very welcome for b2b websites, where customers are aware of their supplier's internal references. Now it works, and your customers can search your website and purchase products by item reference.
• The search engine page now shows thumbnails, when available. The thumbnails are square and are created from the first photo uploaded for each record. It works with news, products and portfolios.

Finally, the same search engine is now used for the product catalog pages as well (instead of queries to the databases where your products are stored). It allows for more consistency, as search results will be identical, regardless of the origin of the search (product search or global website search).
