Custom views

UGAL websites come with a default set of "page types", like news, projects and products pages. While the look of those pages can be modified using custom themes, the positioning of the elements on the page cannot always be controlled. Mostly because you do not have direct control over the HTML code generated for the pages of your website.
Welcome "Custom Views", an advanced functionality that gives you total control over the HTML code of your website while keeping the entire set of functionalities offered by UGAL.
How custom views work
When someone requests a page of your website, UGAL servers build the response in a 2 step process:
- Fetch the data for the page that is requested. It could be the copy of a news, the description of a product or the content of the visitor's shopping cart.
- Build the HTML code for the page, by populating an HTML template with the data that was found.
Custom views allow you to use your own HTML template for the second step, instead of the default UGAL HTML template. They truly open the door for a multitude of customizations that were not always easy or even possible before.
How to create custom views
You have guessed it, custom views are not that easy to create - they require some HTML and coding knowledge. So, to start and to see how custom views are used, we request that you contact us to implement them on your website.
Hurry, our servers are impatiently waiting to process them!
